The EC3 Residential Policy Steering Committee proudly participated in the recent Colorado Homes for All (COHFA) Membership Assembly. EC3 is a steering committee member of COHFA.

During the gathering, our committee reaffirmed its strong commitment to COHFA’s long-term vision of social housing—deeply affordable, community-controlled, and permanently off the speculative market. Together with housing justice allies from across the state, we explored the strategic path ahead to lift the statewide ban on local rent stabilization and pave the way for passing rent stabilization policies at the local level.

EC3 Celebrates Purchase of Denver Apartment Building

On Sept. 21 EC3 announced the East Colfax Mixed-Income Neighborhood Trust (EC-MINT). The EC-MINT is a powerful model to address the housing inequities in the East Colfax Corridor through the acquisition and preservation of rental properties that are at high risk of speculation and flipping and where residents face displacement. By acquiring these rental properties, the EC-MINT will: 1) Stabilize rents and establish long-term affordability 2) Invest resources to address habitability issues and improve living conditions for residents 3) Create and sustain community control by giving power to members to govern and hold the MINT accountable.

COHFA Action: We demand a limit to rent increases!

On August 15, 2024, we joined Colorado Homes for All (COHFA) in demanding Greystar corporation limit rent increases to no more than 3% each year — and use their power to influence other Colorado corporate landlords to do the same. Greystar is one of the largest corporate landlords in the State of Colorado, and many properties in our neighborhood are owned by Greystar. In fact, many EC3 members live in Greystar owned properties, and joined for the action. EC3 is an active member of the Colorado Homes for All (COHFA) steering committee.
