We advocate for permanent solutions to the housing crisis grounded in the vision of our community
At the outset of the COVID Pandemic, through small house and virtual meetings, we asked community what their primary need was. Their answer was rental assistance, and thus the Housing Campaign was born. Two years later, we convened again to re-strategize and think of long term solutions, as rental assistance is a temporary bandaid.
Through community discussions, educational presentations, delicious food, community members voted that their top sustainable housing models were a rent freeze model and a Downpayment Assistance Program. With our community mandate clear, we are exploring the feasibility of a rent freeze model and beginning to connect community members to down payment assistance resources.
Aside from program development, we are also pushing housing policy on a City and State level to create a housing landscape that is more inclusive and accessible for East Colfax residents.
