Emily Goodman is a young professional that was born and raised in Colorado, spending her childhood enjoying the diverse and beautiful atmosphere of Denver, including East Colfax. She comes to our organization with degrees from University of Colorado Boulder in International Affairs and Jewish Studies, with an emphasis on Jewish-Muslim relations throughout history. Emily’s heart and experience has been working with youth and families in the nonprofit sector to end youth homelessness and mentor and advocate for refugee and foster students’ education. Emily began her non-profit work while attending CU Boulder supporting iEmpathize raising funds and volunteering in the fight against human trafficking. She has helped create social media campaigns and lobbied for policy and legislation changes as a member of Colorado Coalition Against Sexual Assault’s Survivor Task Force. Her experience includes developing educational supports and programs around the needs of the individuals she serves, assisting refugees in engaging to identify work opportunities, identifying paths for their children to further their education and dreams, primarily with families in the East Colfax area. Through Emily’s personal experience she understands the importance of affordable housing, which fuels her excitement to be an advocate for our community to help create a sustainable and equitable future for all that call East Colfax home.
